It’s Time to Redefine Energetic Protection
Recently, I’ve begun learning animal communication, where energetic protection is a top priority in every session. As a healer, I’ve always known how important it is to maintain energetic hygiene in our work.
Yet, observing how healing services are delivered—or how people approach spirituality in general—I’ve noticed an overemphasis on “protecting ourselves from negativity.” This makes me wonder: Is “protection” just another form of separation?
Oneness teaches us that separation is the root of suffering. Duality doesn’t truly exist; what we perceive as opposites are simply expressions of yin and yang. It’s the human mind that labels things "positive" or "negative," judging what we encounter as “harmful” and trying to distance ourselves from it. But the truth is, lower vibrations are just higher vibrations waiting for us to shed light on them.
(For simplicity, I’ll use “positive” and “negative” here—but remember, these are just labels.)
From a quantum perspective, if we detect a certain energy externally, we also carry that seed within us—whether positive or negative. So, if a healer feels the need to “protect” themselves because they absorb negative energy (or even manifest it as pain/suffering), it means that negativity already resonates within them.
This isn’t a judgment. First, we’re all souls in human bodies walking similar paths. Second, shifting our perspective: Picking up negativity is an opportunity for internal alchemy. Feeling triggered or uncomfortable is wonderful—it’s your soul saying, “Here’s a chance to pause and let the Light in.”
That said, I still believe energetic protection matters in any energy exchange. But its purpose isn’t to separate “good” from “bad” or block negativity. Instead, I see it as a tool to:
Create space for awareness of our present state.
Make conscious choices about which energies to engage with.
When something feels off or triggering, remember: We’re not victims of the session or the people we serve. Instead, we’re being invited to ask: What’s beneath this discomfort?
Ultimately, spirituality isn’t just for meditation or healing work—it’s a way of living. It’s about consciously choosing to think, speak, and act from the Light within us. And that Light is always there, waiting for us to embrace it more deeply.
With love,
Erika
